We have been using bulls from Millah Murrah Angus almost exclusively since 2011 in both our paddock joining and A.I. programs.
We firmly believe we need to continue to attend other sales each year, but the Millah Murrah program, the bull it is producing and most importantly the breeding philosophy of its principal, Ross Thompson, fit seamlessly with our thinking and goals.
Two bulls that must be mentioned are Millah Murrah Kingdom K35 and Millah Murrah Klooney K42. They were both put up to auction at the 2015 Millah Murrah sale and made $150,000 and $80,000 respectively.
“Both these bulls are going to move the breed to a new level in terms of maternal quality and it’s so rare to find two genuine stud sires at a sale so even and correct in structure,” said purchasing syndicate spokesmen, John Woodruff, Witherswood Angus Glenrowan, Victoria.
We have used both bulls in our A.I. programs in the last three years, and were blessed to find ourselves in the position to purchase Kingdom from Witherswood Angus in October of last year. He will continue to be used in our A.I. programs and single sire joined for as long as possible.
When inspecting bulls at sale Jeremy takes the following into account.
NMMK26 is by Hingaia 469 and was purchased in 2015 for $13,000.
NMMM203 was purchased at the 2017 sale for $22,000. He is by Coonamble Jester J268 and is used over heifers.
NMMD105, by the New Zealand sire Te Mania Infinity 04 379, was purchased in 2009 for $14,000 for use in A.I. programs with our maiden heifers.
